Windbreak Design ¨ Our District Technician, Terry Weigel, will help you consider all the factors essential in having a successful tree planting. He can assist you with the following: ¨ The tree/shrub varieties recommended for your soil type ¨ Choosing the best location ¨ What species to plant in wet or dry sites ¨ Wildlife plantings
¨ Services & Rates ¨ Site Preparation: We recommend that sites be prepared by July 1 prior to planting. This reduces problems with weeds and grasses that can interfere with newly planted trees. The District has a tree disc available to rent. Tractor and operator included! ¨ The charge is a one time set up/transportation fee of $50.00. ¨ $50.00/Hour thereafter.
¨ Tree Planting: The tree planter can only be used with regular sized conservation tree stock. The cost of the trees is included in the price. ¨ The charge for a machine planting is $20.00/Hundred Linear Feet. ¨ The District does require a downpayment on all tree plantings. The dollar amount will vary on whether you have cost share or not. If your planting is cost shared, you will be required to pay your percentage of total estimated costs. If your planting is not cost shared, you will be asked to pay 25% of total estimated costs with balance due 30 days after first invoice.
¨ Weedbarrier: The weedbarrier machine lays the fabric down and works best on properly prepared ground. The District tries to place the fabric as secure as possible. It is necessary to periodically check your fabric to make sure that all areas are secure especially after a storm. The cost of the fabric is included in the price. ¨ The charge for fabric application is $48.00/Hundred Linear Feet. ¨ The District does require a downpayment on all fabric applications. The dollar amount will vary on whether you have cost share or not. If your fabric is cost shared, you will be required to pay your percentage of total estimated costs. If your fabric is not cost shared, you will be asked to pay 25% of total estimated costs with balance due 30 days after first invoice. ¨ Handplants: ¨ See Handplant Detail Page ¨ Bulk Rates are available!
Custom Seeding ¨ Our District has a John Deere 1590 No-Till Drill, 20’ wide, 7 1/2” spacing. ¨ Service & Rates ¨ Tractor and operator will be provided. Price is $12.00 / ac. + producer will fill tractor with fuel when finished. If the drill operator determines that field conditions are too rough, seeding rates will go up to $15.00/ac. ¨ Producer will pay a 33% downpayment of the estimated total cost of seeding. Remaining cost will be billed when seeding is complete and actual acreage are calculated.
